Think of these as tactical boots for a somewhat narrow focus of application. They really shine on steep, rocky, mixed alpine terrain and allow you to move in a fast, efficient, precise manner: think Colorado 13ers and 14ers with off-trail approaches and steep scampers and Class 3 summit scrambles. I think the target user of this shoe would be the advanced hiker who, like an advanced skier, probably has at least a couple of other trail shoes in their quiver.
