Thanks so much for the feedback and insights Jackie! That’s helpful for us and other readers. Glad you enjoy your Duplex as much as we love ours. Happy hiking!

It’s pretty springy but held up in major gusts on the GDT. Weight is worth it for me.

Leaks, leaks and more leaks. Seams leaked after a couple of months. I never had a tent with these quality control problems. Very expensive and I ended up giving it away. I thought that it would be a good, lightweight tent. Save your money and go somewhere else. I’m done with ZPack products. This tent has turned me away from ZPack for good. High priced junk.

We love it. If you mostly backpack with two people, we’d recommend the Triplex over the Duplex, though both will work very well. We just like the extra space that the Triplex provides when backpacking in pairs, and their weights are fairly similar. Here’s our full review of the Triplex if you want to learn more: https://www.DuskHiker.com/blog/zpacks-triplex-tent-review

First impressions… setup was a breeze! Practiced once prior and watched countless setup videos…. super easy! Performance was great especially in the rain! Temperatures were in the upper 30’s and driving rain all night…. NO CONDENSATION ISSUES WHAT SO EVER! Granted I was the only one in the tent but none the less I stayed bone dry! Price is what it is but you feel better once you notice the weight savings on your back. The dual doors are a welcome ( I previously owned the Sierra Designs Lightning 2FL) and ventilation was plentiful! Room inside for a single sleeper is cavernous (I am 6′) and head room is great! All in all I think anyone interested in the Duplex will not be disappointed! Pull the trigger and own THE best tent around!

Initially I liked the tent but after a while found some things that didnt work for me. First the bathtub floor was too narrow causing possibly damaging downward pressure on the bug net and seriously constricting the possible available space inside the tent. the bug net lays on the ground when unzipped allowing dirt to become inbedded in the zipper and I met a few other hiker with damaged zippers due to this. Customer Service was horrendous. Joe was downright rude and defensive and refused to discuss the possibility that his design might be less than perfect. I will be modifying my tent for next years hike and never buy anything from them again.

Fellow PNW’er here who sometimes ventures afield to Wind Rivers, Canadian Rockies, etc.. Any follow-up feedback a year later down the road? Would love a HMG Ulta2 but the price tag is just soooo far away. Wife and I looking to replace an 8 year old Double Rainbow that is no longer as spry as it once was (failing zippers, pole sleeve wearing out, etc).

I like the lightness of silnylon but would love to not deal with the sag factor.

ZPacks has made slight updates to this tent design since my review that added a small amount of weight. The same basic design is still the same though.

Why is it so light?
On Zpacks website http://www.zpacks.com/shelter/duplex.shtml
Duplex tent is 21.0 ounces (595 grams) WITHOUT stakes….
