I am referring to in areas where 60-80 mph winds are not uncommon such as above tree line areas of the Rockies and North Cascades. I understand that winds like that are pretty common in the White Mountains too. I am looking to a 3 season tent and not a 4 season design that can withstand heavy snow loads.

I am thru hiking the AT in 2017 and currently own the MSR Hubba Hubba Nx 2 person tent. I love my MSR tent but when weight counts… I will be purchasing the Zpacks duplex tent for my thru hike.

Thanks for reviewing the gear we all look at Dave.

It’s light but not the lightest and it’s a Sil – nylon which has its down side as mentioned but it suits my needs and budget and amount of use. It performed perfectly in very windy conditions on a trip back in December as I camped on top of big frog mountain in SE tennessee.

Both are very well made and will hold up well over the long haul if treated with care. I think that’s a personal call, because they’re both great choices. I’d go with the SMD if I were you, but that’s just my opinion. The sale doesn’t hurt either!

Smd is having a sale right now that almost makes the lunar a hundred dollars cheaper, but I really like the design of the LH, is either more well made than the other, which do you think would be more durable over the long haul?
