Very well structured and informative post! I’ve always thought bear sprays don’t work. It’s like the myth that pretending to be dead will confuse the bear and make it go away.

Can you recommend some specific brand?

Depends on the size of the can. Honestly, chances are you’ll never have to use it. We’ve only had to use them for testing purposes. And that’s after decades of wilderness trips in bear country.

That said, a small can should give you 1-2 long blasts or 3-5 short blasts in our experience. Larger cans will obviously have more blasts. Hope that helps!
