Hi Clemens,

If you check our top tents page or our top picks page you’ll see that we think the BA Copper Spur has a better balance between weight and durability. There’s a lot more info and gear recommendations listed on those pages too. Hope that helps!

It’s not that I’m rough on my gear, I just don’t want to bother about my tent getting damaged all the time. Already thx for your answer.

Good question Scott. Will you mostly be using it for 1 person or 2? Also, are you tall (taller than 6ft)? Long story short, the CS Platinum is far more expensive (about $200 more if I remember correctly) and weighs a couple ounces more, but is fully freestanding, where the Tiger Wall is semi-freestanding. The CS Platinum is a bit more spacious than the Tiger Wall, but it does have the old (non-HV) tent body design, which has less vertical side walls than the new HV versions of the CS. The Platinum is longer than the Tiger Wall, so if you’re over 6ft it’ll probably fit you better.

Another key consideration is that the CS Platinum has even thinner materials. In fact, it has the thinnest silnylon floor and fly I’ve ever seen used in a tent, so it really does require some care. The Tiger wall has pretty thin fabric at 15d. Many tents use 30d floor fabric as a good balance between weight and durability. The CS Platinum uses 7d silnylon in the floor and fly, which is really thin.

So, if you’re mostly using it as a 1 person shelter and you’re shorter than 6 ft tall, I’d lean towards the Tiger Wall. Even for two people under 6 ft tall I’d probably still lean towards the Tiger Wall, though it’ll be a slightly tighter fit. If you’re larger/taller, want the bit of extra room, or really need a fully freestanding tent, you might lean towards the CS Platinum. Hope that helps!
